Gold the way ahead, insists MHK

by isleofman.com 15th December 2011

The Eurozone is 'a ticking time bomb'.

That's the belief of Middle MHK Howard Quayle who believes the Island's investment portfolio should be re-assessed.

In Tynwald this week he asked Treasury Minister Eddie Teare why the Island wasn't holding reserves of gold.

Mr Teare said the Island's investment portfolio had enjoyed a strong performance over a significant number of years, without holding substantial amounts of physical metal.

But Mr Quayle says he believes the Island has to accept that we're currently in unchartered economic territory and can't just assume that what's been right in the past is right now.
