BEAUTY salons, nail bars, hairdressers and spas are getting together next month for ‘Isle of Pamper Day’, donating 50% of their profits to a disabilities charity.
For just one day - on January 28 - participating beauty salons, hairdressers, nail bars and spas will donate 50% of their profits to Centre 21, a recreational facility for people with disabilities on the Island.
The idea is the initiative of Wendy Campbell of Image Matters who said today, “With so many beauty salons on the Island, the idea of an Island-wide pamper day seemed perfect to help out this worthwhile cause.
“As a beauty professional, I understand the potential of the industry and have the contacts to make it happen. We’re so pleased with the salons that have signed up so far and hope to see many more joining before January 28.”
Raffle tickets will also be sold at salons in the run-up to the day, with great prizes including dinner for two at Portofino and cookery classes with a professional chef.
Euphoria Beautique, Skin Solutions Salon, Heavenly Beauty, Hot Gossip, Salon Rouge, Mount Murray and Health and Harmony have all signed up to the scheme so far with more and more joining each day.
Centre 21 is made up of five local charities; Manx Mencap, Manx Gateway Club, Isle of Man Special Olympics, Autism in Mann and Downs Syndrome Isle of Man. Completed in 2007, the Centre is a venue for computer skills, drama and arts sessions, along with sporting and social activities for people with disabilities.
Geoff Karran of Centre 21 said, “We are very grateful to Wendy and all of the local businesses for getting together to contribute to our cause. Having such support means that we can continue to carry out the essential work that we do everyday to help people with disabilities live a fulfilling life. We look forward to the day and hope it is a big success.”
The ‘Isle of Pamper’ Day’s fund raising target is £10,000, which will make a huge difference to the Centre. Although a high target, it is entirely achievable with the support of the whole community. To get involved simply book an appointment at one of the registered salons on ‘Isle of Pamper’ Day.
