TWO people have been arrested and charged with drink driving offences as part of this year's anti-drink driving campaign.
In the first week and a half of the campaign, which was launched on December 1, police performed random stop checks on over 150 vehicles.
Inspector Terry Stephen of the Roads Policing Unit said: "In the first week and a half of the campaign over 150 vehicles have been stopped and the drivers spoken to.
"The vast majority of motorists support our initiative and are clearly following advice - however two persons have been arrested and charged with drink driving offences.
"Pease plan your nights out in advance and know how you intend to get home. Have a great Christmas - don't become a drink drive statistic."
This year's campaign focuses on the "special offers" available to drink drivers.
These include a 12 month driving ban, a fine of up to £5,000, a free criminal record and reduced job prospects.
The initiative is being run in conjunction by the Department of Infrastructure and Isle of Man Constabulary.
Gordon Edwards, the road safety manager for the Department of Infrastructure, said: "If you are going out socialising this festive period there are two questions to ask yourself before you go out - 'What shall I wear?' and 'How will I get home safely?'
"People often ask the first but forget the second. We are encouraging people to catch a late bus, book a taxi or allocate a designated driver."
