YOUNG people in the Isle of Man have helped develop a new campaign to raise awareness of how drug and alcohol misuse can influence risk taking behaviour.
The "It's up to me to know where to draw the line" campaign has been launched in time for the festive season and is being spearheaded by the Department of Health.
The campaign highlights the importance of people, of any age, knowing their limits and focuses on safe sex, alcohol misuse and drug misuse.
It encourages people that "It's up to me" to – make a difference, know their limits, treat people well, know what's right, look after their friends, respect themselves and to say "no".
Dr Parameshwaran Kishore, the Island's director of public health, said: "We understand that many people want to go out and enjoy the party season. We particularly encourage them to look after themselves and their friends. Planning ahead and taking the right precautions will help reduce the risk of a good night ending badly.
"We want everyone, including young people, to have a good time and enjoy the festive atmosphere. We hope that through this campaign they will take some simple steps to ensure that they and their friends have safe celebrations."
Health Minister David Anderson MHK added: "I am delighted to see that young people have contributed to the development of this campaign. This will hopefully see the messages resonate with the target audience and draw attention to the issues associated with alcohol misuse in order that the young and old can enjoy safer nights out during this festive season."
