by isleofman.com 13th December 2011

A FILM about the 2010 TT races has sold more than 100,000 copies on DVD in less than two weeks.

TT3D: Closer to the Edge was released on Monday, November 28, and sold 34,000 copies in the first two days of release.

The film was produced by CinemaNX and the Isle of Man Government and has been released on DVD by Entertainment One.

Steve Christian, the chairman of CinemaNX, said: "We were thrilled with the DVD and Blu Ray success of TT3D: Closer to the Edge over the first few days of release. To then have sold 100,000 copies in less than two weeks only reaffirms TT3D as one of the biggest British documentaries successes of all time.

"It's a fantastic start to an ongoing relationship with Entertainment One."

Economic Development Minister John Shimmin MHK said: "I am thrilled that TT3D continues to reach new audiences across the world. By portraying the Isle of Man TT races in an honest and exhilarating way the movie is recruiting a new legion of TT fans."

The film has also had high praise from music mogul Simon Cowell. Last week he tweeted: "I just watched a movie called Closer to the Edge. It is incredible!"
