DECEMBER'S sitting of Tynwald looks set to be a busy one with 50 questions on the order paper.
Members of the House of Keys and the Legislative Council will start the last sitting of the year tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10am.
There are 27 questions for oral answer and 23 for written answer on the order paper.
Topics up for discussion include public sector housing, the film industry and the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre.
Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK will answer questions on Isle of Man Newspapers and government contracts.
Garff MHK Steve Rodan wants to know if government is concerned by Isle of Man Newspaper's proposals to print the Island's newspapers in Sheffield.
David Callister MLC will ask Mr Bell if he will "formulate a policy by which all government contracts will be first advertised on Island and only when local companied cannot be secured that off-Island contractors/suppliers can be sought."
Middle MHK Howard Quayle will ask the Treasury Minister, Eddie Teare MHK, whether any of government's reserve funds are invested in gold mining stocks.
Infrastructure Minister David Cretney MHK will answer questions on passenger tax and airport fees and about the costs of the improvements to Nelson Street in Douglas.
Onchan MHK Zac Hall will quiz Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw MHK about the department's policy on providing healthcare services to people with autism and Down's syndrome.
Mr Hall will also ask Health Minister David Anderson MHK about steps to improve rates of early detection of cancers.
Community, Culture and Leisure Minister Tim Crookall MHK will field questions from David Callister MLC about the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre.
He will be asked if he will examine ways that the Villa and Gaiety operation could be privatised or corporatized to "remove the £1.3 million annual deficit" and if he will appoint an experienced professional theatre manager to manage both facilities.
Castletown MHK Richard Ronan wants to know what steps the Economic Development Minister John Shimmin MHK is taking to support the interests of the "indigenous Manx businesses" and the wider economy of the Isle of Man "in the face of an influx of large UK retailers".
In the written questions South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft will raise questions about the film industry.
She will ask the Treasury Minister "how he intends to recoup the £11,723,780 investment made in the film Me and Orson Welles" and "whether any of the films in which CinemaNX invested has yet recouped its initial investment".
Ramsey MHK Leonard Singer will ask the Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson MHK about the number of people aged between 12 and 18 who have been apprehended and interviewed for causing criminal damage in the last five years.
He also wants to know how many of these people have been prosecuted and cautioned and how many have reoffended following prosecution or caution.
The December sitting of Tynwald will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, December 13, from 10am.
