by isleofman.com 12th December 2011

AN original watercolour painting by Norman Sayle is up for grabs in the Isle of Man this week.

The Sayle Gallery in Douglas is holding a sealed bid auction for the watercolour which is untitled.

The painting is dated 1996 and it is the first time since it was originally exhibited that the watercolour is up for sale.

Norman Sayle was born in Douglas in 1926 and his love of the Island is reflected in many of his paintings.

Before he died, in 2007, the President of Tynwald presented him with the first ever Tynwald Medal of Honour for his outstanding contribution to Manx life.

Bidders have until Friday, December 16, to place their bids and the auction will start at 2pm on that day.

The painting has a reserve price of £3,500.
