'Comments weren't meant for publication'

A union representative says she was surprised by the 'creative journalism' employed by a Manx Independent reporter to produce an article on members of Tynwald's expenses and pensions.

Trades Union Council president Angela Moffatt says she didn't realise the comments she made were to be used for an article, as the journalist told her they were just doing some research on the matter.

The article has prompted stinging criticism of her from Chief Minister Allan Bell and chairman of the Civil Service Commission Alf Cannan MHK.

Ms Moffatt says she had no idea the remarks would end up in the paper:
