Former Mayor George Chatel passes away

Tribute is being paid to a former Mayor who served Douglas as a councillor during three decades.

George Chatel represented Victoria Ward for 25 years and in 2007 was made a Freeman of the Borough.

He was also awarded an MBE for tireless service to charity.

Councillor Michael Gelling knew him from an early age (listen to audio file below):

Mr Chatel was 76.
