Lunchtime choir to hold Christmas concerts

by isleofman.com 4th December 2011

A LUNCHTIME choir will be holding two Christmas concerts this month singing a range of festive favourites.

The community choir will perform a 15 minute concert on Friday, December 9, and on Friday, December 16.

Both concerts will take place at the Salvation Army Citadel in Lord Street in Douglas.

Admission to both concerts is free but there will be collections for the Salvation Army (on Dec 9) and for ME Support IOM (on Dec 16).

The community choir was formed by Maggie Richardson the head of music service for the Department of Education and Children.

It welcomes all singers, regardless of experience, and has more than 100 members – although not all of them make it to every rehearsal.

The choir meets at 1.15pm ever Friday lunch time and sessions last 30 minutes. It is free to join and members are asked to contribute 30p a week towards the use of the venue.

For more information contact the Music Centre on 01624 686555 or e-mail music.admin@doe.sch.im.
