Fire crews attend flat fire in Douglas

by isleofman.com 2nd December 2011

TWO fire crews from Douglas attended a flat fire in Douglas this morning (Friday).

At 8.30am the occupant of the flat, on Rosemount, made a 999 call saying there was a fire in their kitchen.

The occupants were advised to evacuate the premises by the Emergency Services Joint Control Room.

Two firefighters entered the smoke-logged first floor flat and found the cause of the fire to be a grill pan.

It had burnt itself out and the firefighters were able to make the grill safe and ventilate the property which took around 10 minutes.

No one was injured in the incident and the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service has said the fire was confined to the oven therefore smoke damage was quite light.
