ONE of the world's most renowned musicians will perform in the Isle of Man next year.
Julian Lloyd Webber will take to the Gaiety stage in September next year.
He will perform classics, accompanied by Pam Chowhan on piano, including Bach, Faure, Saint Saens and Debussy as well as by his father William and brother Andrew.
The show will be split into two parts – a performance by the musician followed by a talk where Julian will reminisce on his collaborations with musicians including Yehudi Menuhin, Joaquin Rodrigo, jazz greats Cleo Laine and Stephane Grappelli as well as Elton John and his brother Andrew.
Julian's Brit-Award winning Elgar Concerto, conducted by Yehudi Menuhin, was chosen as the finest ever version by BBC Music Magazine.
He has also given more than 50 works their premiere recordings and has inspired new compositions for cello from composers including Malcolm Arnold and Joaquin Rodrigo and James MacMillan and Philip Glass.
His EMI disc Unexpected Songs was released in 2006 and his most recent recording Phantasia, is based on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera and features violinist Sarah Chang.
An Evening with Julian Lloyd Webber: Travels with my cello – is being held in association with the Isle of Man Sporting and Dining Club and the Isle of Man Arts Council and will take place on September 13.
