'Scamazon' warning from OFT

Online shoppers are being warned not to be taken in by a very convincing scam, involving the retailer Amazon.

An email, purporting to come from company, suggests there may have been unauthorised activity on a customer's account, and invites them to click on a link to confirm they were responsible for recent transactions.

They are then asked to confirm all their bank details, on a page which could easily pass as being part of amazon.co.uk

Advice Centre manager at the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading Andrea Tabb says scammers can be very clever, and requests for credit or debit card information in such circumstances should always be ignored (listen to audio file below):
