Would-be MLC says 'yes' to publicly elected LegCo

by isleofman.com 1st December 2011

The Isle of Man is like 'a very big business' which needs to generate revenue from which it can pay for its framework of core services.

So says senior official at Standard Bank Tony Wild, who is contesting the vacant seat on the Legislative Council.

He believes he is at a time in life when he has the skills and experience which would help him put something back into the Island, and help it flourish for future generations.

However, unlike the other candidate for the seat, retired meteorological officer Brian Rae, he would like to see a popularly elected LegCo (listen to audio file below):

The LegCo election will be held at a special sitting of the House of Keys on Monday, December 12.

The seat became vacant when Clare Christian was made president of Tynwald, at the July sitting of the court.
