TWO senior executives from legal firm Dougherty Quinn will give the first Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) Isle of Man presentations of 2012 in January.

Tom Maher, director, and Annemarie Hughes, senior associate at Dougherty Quinn’s specialist trust team, will give an address on “Foundations: Ready, Steady, Go – A Practical Perspective”.

It follows on from the Isle of Man Foundations Act 2011 receiving Royal Assent in November this year and the updated Financial Services Rule Book and Regulated Activities Order, coming into operation on January 1, 2012.

These will make it possible for Isle of Man fiduciary service providers to act as registered agent, enforcer and council member of a Foundation. The Foundations (Winding Up) Regulations 2011 and Foundations (Continuance) Regulations 2011, made under the Foundations Act will also come into operation on January 1, 2012.

Gillian Prestwich, ICSA IOM chairman, said, “We are delighted to welcome Tom and Annemarie. Tom last talked to ICSA in April 2010 when he covered the legal perspectives of International Tax Investigations in the Isle of Man. With the understandable increase in Foundations I’m sure this presentation will be of much interest to members and non-members alike.”
