Electricity chairman thanks Onchan residents

by isleofman.com 29th November 2011

THE chairman of the Manx Electricity Authority has thanked Onchan residents for their patience following a power cut.

This morning (Tuesday) almost 2,000 homes were left without power for almost an hour from 7.08am to 8.02am.

This was due to a fault with an 11KV cable between Douglas North primary substation and Glenside substation.

Chairman Eddie Lowey MLC also paid tribute to the prompt response by engineers who were forced to work in difficult conditions due to the weather.

The section of cable containing the fault is still being tested and will be returned to service as soon as it can.
