THE long-running battle over the Kirk Michael school landswap deal fell into further confusion today in the House of Keys over the precise terms of the agreement reached by government.
MHK for the area, Alf Cannan, asked another series of questions about the deal which led to a somewhat confusing response from the new Minister for Education and Children Peter Karran.
Mr Cannan tried to obtain specific answers to questions about what the landswap deal precisely contained and whether it would result in expanding the existing school premises.
Mr Karran’s fairly lengthy reply talked about structural changes to the “premises”, but wasn’t able to specify whether this meant physical expansion of the school itself.
Mr Cannan asked a number of supplementary questions in a bid to pin down the Minister’s department on the detail, but by the end of the brief exchange there was no clear answer.
However, Mr Karran did undertake to discuss the matter with senior executives within his department and to seek further legal clarification with the Attorney General’s office.
