MEA restores power to almost 2,000 Onchan residents

by isleofman.com 29th November 2011

THE Manx Electricity Authority has restored power to 1,977 residents in Onchan following an outage this morning.

Electricity supplies to the area were interrupted at 7.08am due to a fault with an 11KV cable between Douglas North primary substation and Glenside substation.

Engineers responded to the fault in what the authority called "difficult conditions" and the electricity supply was restored at 8.02am.

A spokesperson for the Manx Electricity Authority said: "The fault area has been isolated with customers now on 'back feed' (supplies being fed around the isolated area).

"Engineers are still investigating the exact location. Once located work will be undertaken today to repair the cable with no additional disturbance expected for customers."

Anyone with concerns over their power should contact the Manx Electricity Authority on 01624 687687.
