ST Ninian’s High School was won the prestigious Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment Shield, beating the Island’s three other secondary schools.
During the last week of the summer term, Year 10 students from St Ninian’s, Ballakermeen, Queen Elizabeth II and Castle Rushen high schools took part in a series of daily events designed to test their teamwork and competitive spirit.
Activities ranged from zip-wiring down a 30 metre tower to crawling through tunnels on the assault course and negotiating a simulated mine-field whilst blindfolded.
A spokesman said, “Every student put 100% into every activity, hoping to beat their peers as well as having tremendous fun. Points were awarded for performance and attitude.
“It is difficult to single out any specific students but throughout the day Shannon Groves and Patrick Vernon showed tremendous attitude, team spirit and courage.”
The activities were delivered by the King’s Division Recruiting Team and the awards were presented by Major John Miller, an Army Careers adviser.
