CASTLETOWN will be renamed Tinseltown this weekend as the town turns into a winter wonderland complete with falling snow.
The Tinseltown event includes a host of activities for the whole family to enjoy including a Christmas Kingdom within Castle Rushen, a festive market and live music.
There will be falling snow and the Christmas lights will be officially switched on at 5pm this Saturday, December 3.
Castletown commissioner Colin Leather said: "The event promises to be a great family day out and a wonderful opportunity to support the many local traders in Castletown. This really does promise to be a special event for families and visitors to enjoy."
Festive music will be provided by the Victoria Road school choir, Castletown Band and the Manx Saxophone Ensemble and there will be festive food including roast chestnuts and mulled wine on sale in Castletown Square.
The Castletown Chamber of Commerce will be holding a prize draw with participating shops and there will be a Christmas shop at Castle Rushen which will stock Manx Christmas gifts.
Friends of Manx National Heritage have been busy decorating Castle Rushen with traditional garlands, wreaths and tree decorations in time for Santa's arrival.
Edmund Southworth, the director of Manx National Heritage, said: "We are delighted to work in partnership with so many other agencies. Tinseltown is a real community event which shows the Island at its best.
"Castle Rushen has been at the heart of the Manx community for over 800 years and we are very pleased to use this fantastic building in such an enjoyable and family friendly way."
Tinseltown takes place on December 3, 4, 10, 11 and 17, from 10am to 5pm.
Isle of Man Railways is running Santa Trains to help transport members of the public to the event. Trains will depart Douglas at 9.50am, 11.15am, 12.50pm and 2.15pm. On December 17 trains will depart from Port Erin at 10.10am and 1.10pm. Return trains are also available.
