Reports in the United Kingdom press say Manx-based businessman Trevor Hemmings is spending ?750,000 a month on his football club.
Mr Hemmings is a lifelong fan of Preston North End and took it over last year when it faced being wound up by the UK taxman.
Since then, he has spent around ?25 million on the League One side which was relegated from the Championship last May.
Mr Hemmings is reported as saying he is having to find ?750,000 each month just to keep Preston North End going.
