Hopes for closer ties with Russia

New business opportunties for Manx firms in the space and clean tech industries were highlighted during a visit to the Isle of Man by the Russian ambassador to the United Kingdom at the weekend.

His Excellency Dr Alexander Yakovenko was invited by Chief Minister Allan Bell, who outlined the expertise offered by Island firms during a day of talks on Friday.

The ambassador found out more about Manx culture, traditions and history when he was shown museums and other attractions on Saturday.

Dr Yakovenko said he hoped to develop closer ties between Russia and the Isle of Man, and he spoke of encouraging opportunties for Manx firms to find new growth areas within the expanding Russian economy:
