All Saints set for festive showpiece

by isleofman.com 26th November 2011

It will be an All Saints Day in the Railway Cup Final on Boxing Day.

That’s after holders St George’s and St Mary’s clinched a place in the festive showpiece of the BCS sponsored competition.

A first half own goal and a second half header from Callum Morrissey secured St George’s a 2-0 home victory over Laxey at Glencrutchery Road.

And they’ll meet St Mary’s at the Bowl on December 26 after St Mary’s were 3-2 winners over Old Boys after extra-time.

In an exciting semi-final, David Skillen and Martin King – against his former club - traded goals in normal time, although Old Boys would be desperately disappointed not to have won the tie after hitting the woodwork on a number of occasions.

In extra-time, a double from Steven Priestnal, one from the penalty spot, fired St Mary’s through and, although Robbie Ward pulled one back, it was the Saints who prevailed.
