MHK wants to know more about Brussels and London offices

by isleofman.com 25th November 2011

A SOUTH Douglas MHK will quiz ministers about how the Isle of Man is represented in the UK and Europe next week.

Kate Beecroft has tabled two questions on the matter for oral answer in Tuesday's sitting of the House of Keys.

She will ask the Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK how much it has cost to rent and staff the Isle of Man's Brussels office since the appointment of Patrick Bourke- the Island's Brussels representative.

Mrs Beecroft also wants to know what issues Mr Bourke has lobbied about on behalf of the Isle of Man Government and what the results of this lobbying have been.

She will also ask what "newsworthy contributions" he has made since he began his role in May.

The Treasury Minister will also be asked about the Isle of Man Government's London office.

Mrs Beecroft will ask him how much it has cost to staff and rent the office, which is located at No 1 Cornhill, since 2006.

She also wants to know how Isle of Man businesses, politicians and civil servants have used the building and what promotion and development of the Island's financial services sector has been achieved since the office was opened.

The House of Keys sitting will take place on Tuesday, November 29, at 10am.
