Apprentice star's Manx-bound flight delay

by isleofman.com 23rd November 2011

A STAR of the hit TV programme The Apprentice faces a race against time to make it to the Island to speak to students in the Isle of Man today (Wednesday).

Nick Hewer, who is one of Lord Alan Sugar's advisers on the show, is due to visit the Island as a guest of Junior Achievement.

However his flight from London City Airport is delayed.

He said on his Twitter account earlier this morning: "Fog bound at City airport two hour delay to flight departure. Scheduled to speak at Junior Achievement Isle of Man at lunchtime, hope I make it."

He posted later: "Ouch! Now delayed to 11.40 running tight."

Mr Hewer has been booked to speak to more than 250 students who are participating in an entrepreneurial scheme run by the Manx-registered charity where young people set up and run their own businesses over the course of an academic year.

Junior Achievement Isle of Man is a Manx-registered charity that with the help of volunteers goes into schools to teach young people financial literacy, business and entrepreneurial skills.

Mr Hewer will also be a guest speaker at two functions held at the Palace Hotel in Douglas where he will take audiences behind the scenes of The Apprentice before holding an extended question and answer session.
