'Economic reality' forced printing off-Island

The editor of Isle of Man newspapers has admitted he would like printing of the company's weekly titles to continue on-Island, but says that doesn't seem economically possible.

Richard Butt says a consultation about moving print operations to Sheffield is ongoing, with seven full-time and around 20 part-time staff facing redundancy.

The announcement made yesterday (Monday) led to some angry reactions online, with Facebook comments labelling it 'disgusting' and 'a national disgrace'.

On Talking Heads today Mr Butt said he understood why people felt so strongly:
