'Help redundant paper staff', says MHK

A bankbench MHK hopes some good can come out of the circumstances which have forced Isle of Man Newspapers to move its printing off the Island.

Bill Henderson says a significant number of staff being laid off from a local company is unwelcome news, but he accepts the external circumstances which have forced the company to make the decision.

The Examiner, Independent and Courier will be printed in Sheffield from March next year.

It means seven full-time jobs will go along with 16 collators.

Mr Henderson is calling on the Manx government to support those who will be made redundant:
