Latest squash results from the Mount Murray Open Tournament

by isleofman.com 21st November 2011

THE latest squash results from the Isle of Man Squash Rackets Association:

Thom Whiteway retained the Mount Murray Open title but was reluctant to take the trophy due to the unfortunate circumstances of his victory.

Having lost the first two enthralling games against Hamish Thornton Thom took the third to get back into contention in the contest.

The fourth game had only just started when Hamish stumbled and fell to the floor in obvious agony.

It was evident that he would be unable to continue and an otherwise enjoyable competition ended on a sombre note.

Richard Corlett took third place with a 3-1 win over Lyndon Cheetham while the plate prize went to Gary Corlett after a very closely fought out encounter with last year’s plate winner Peter Ginty.

The organisers wish to thank Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club for their generous sponsorship and continued support for this event.

Francé Tobaldo presented the prizes on behalf of Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club.

Thom Whiteway thanked everyone who had taken part and echoed the sentiments of everyone in wishing Hamish a complete and speedy recovery.
