McNulty gets his 'pecker' up for Geordies

by isleofman.com 19th November 2011

Ciaran 'Pecker' McNulty was the star of the show as reigning champions St George’s moved further clear at the top of the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday.

The Geordies’ striker scored all the goals as they hit newly promoted Ramsey Youth Centre for six without reply.

That extended their lead at the summit as Old Boys were held at home by Ramsey and St Mary’s went down 4-1 at Rushen.

At Blackberry Lane, Old Boys and Ramsey shared four goals.

Brothers Craig and Callum Stewart were on target for the home side but Michael Fernandez and Jamie Arneil earned a fine point for the northerners.

Aaron Hawley hit two with Michael Baker and Steve Riding netting the others as Rushen defeated St Mary’s at Croit Lowey.

Strugglers Gymns battled hard but eventually went down 5-2 at Laxey.

After a goalless first half, Ashley Webster (two, one penalty), Darren Hudgeon, Max Murley and Jo Murley found the net for the Miners.

Nick Bowden, from the penalty spot, and Mark McCarrick were the marksmen for the Tromode side.

Ayre United remain bottom after being edged out 3-2 at home by Castletown.

James Teare and Sam Patmoore scored for the Tangerines with Mike Edge, Lee Bass and Carl Stanniford firing Town to maximum points.

Peel won an exciting mid-table clash at Ballafletcher, 4-2 at Corinthians.

Doubles from player-manager Rob Cottier and Andy Quirk secured victory for the westerners.

A Louis Thornton free-kick and a Kane Riding goal kept Corinthians in the hunt.
