by isleofman.com 17th November 2011

BUSINESSES are being invited to take part in a 24 hour "bowl-a-thon" in aid of BBC Children in Need tomorrow (Friday).

Sure Strike in Ramsey is holding the fundraising event which will begin at 9am on Friday and finish at 9pm on Saturday.

For a £50 donation, all of which goes to the appeal, businesses can hire a lane and bowl for an hour.

Sure Stike has also invited all of the schools in the north of the Island to take part in the event and members of the public are also able to sign up.

Tania Saunders-de-Pons, manager of Sure Strike, explained: "We are pleased to be running this event. It's all for a good cause and I think it's great that businesses are taking part.

"If you don't want to bowl in the early hours of the morning you can give a donation and the Sure Strike team will bowl on your behalf.

"What's more soft drinks company Britvic and food supplier Jack Frost are kindly donating food and drink to everyone who takes part.

"We also have some fantastic competitions planned for the whole family so I hope to see everyone there."

Other events planned for the day include a competition to win a Nintendo Wii, a sponsored head shave and one individual being waxed in public.

Kate Hegarty, marketing manager for Sure, said: "With both children and adults invited to participate in this charitable scheme there really is something for everyone at the Sure Strike 24 hour bowl-a-thon.

"We'll also be hosting additional competitions with some great prizes up for grabs. I really hope everyone comes along to get involved in this worthwhile cause."

Anyone who would like to take part in the 24 hour bowl-a-thon is asked to contact Tania on 01624 812444.
