by isleofman.com 17th November 2011

Chartered accountant John Quaye and port security officer Robin Turton have been elected to the board of Onchan Commissioners.

They gained the two seats available in the by-election yesterday (Wednesday).

Mr Quaye topped the poll with 687 votes, followed by Mr Turton on 583.

In a turnout of 19 per cent, finance sector worker Rob Callister gained 384 votes, former disability awareness trainer Kathryn Williams 373, and retired accounts administrator James Corrin 322.

The by-election was called following the death of long-time Island politician Ray Kniveton, and the resignation of Brian Stowell last month.
