Economic Development Minister John Shimmin said, “Since the formation of the Department of Economic Development in April 2010 efforts have been focused on working much closer with the private sector in key sectors and in better defining those target countries.

“A country strategy has been developed and individual strategies put in place across the sectors to target niche opportunities identified.

“It is the Department’s intention to use the Financial Assistance Scheme to encourage private sector professionals to market the Isle of Man in the target areas.

“In addition to that scheme, the Department has been able to assist a number of other trade associations to market the Isle of Man’s proposition for the benefits of all their members.

“Many of these initiatives are supported by private sector firms at their own cost as the responsibility to sustain employment and economic growth on the Island intensifies.”
