'Prisoners can make a positive contribution'

The home affairs minister says work is being done to ensure inmates at Jurby prison are able to use their time more constructively.

Juan Watterson faced questions on the subject from Onchan MHK Zac Hall in Tynwald yesterday (Tuesday).

Mr Hall told the court many jobs only filled an hour a day, adding there were too few education opportunities for prisoners.

Mr Watterson says his department would be meeting with Department of Infrastructure officials to discuss possible new work schemes:
