MEA select committee: the work continues

Malew and Santon MHK Graham Cregeen says he has nothing against a select committee looking into the affairs of the MEA and the loans scandal, but he wants to make sure the investigation is still needed.

Yesterday (Tuesday) in Tynwald, he suggested the committee be wound up and its evidence published, saying the affair was a decade old and the committee had been sitting for six years.

His suggestion was voted down by the court, with many other politicians saying the public was still very interested in the ?300 million of unauthorised loans.

Mr Cregeen says his aim was to spark a debate among members:
