PETS at Home has pledged to help local animal charities in the Isle of Man as it prepares to open the doors to a new store in Douglas.
The pet superstore has asked members of the public to nominate animal organisations or charities in the Isle of Man that would benefit from forming a partnership with Pets at Home.
These charities or organisations would be helped through the Support Adoption For Pets charity, which has been established by Pets At Home, which works to ensure that abandoned animals are re-homed into loving environments.
In the past year Support Adoption For Pets has raised more than £1.4 million thanks to the fundraising efforts of store colleagues and customers across the United Kingdom.
In 2010 the money raised by the charity provided financial support to more than 350 animal welfare charities and local re-homing centres across the UK.
Nigel Thijs, the store manager for the new Pets at Home in the Isle of Man, said: "We want to be at the heart of the pet community on the Island - supporting local charities and helping them to continue their good work - whether through in store events, fundraising or donations.
"We'd love to hear from any pet welfare organisations and re-homing centres on the Island so we can talk to them about our Support Adoption For Pets charity and how we can help their organisation."
The new Pets at Home store will also feature a Pet Adoption Centre which will aim to re-home animals including rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters.
Anyone who would like to nominate a local animal charity or organisation should e-mail supportadoptionforpets@petsathome.com stating Isle of Man in the subject box. Alternatively telephone Amy Wilson, the Support Adoption For Pets charity manager, on 01614 863774.
Pet at Home will be located on Cooil Road and will open on December 9.
