THE managing director of Equiom has been named as the International Business Woman of the Year at the Women in Business Awards.

Sheila Dean was presented with the accolade at the awards which were organised by the business networking organisation Forward Ladies.

The awards, which are in their first year, recognise the achievements of professional business women in the North West of England and the Isle of Man.

Sheila was presented with her award by Mike Eccleshall the deputy international trade director for UK Trade & Investment.

Speaking after the awards Sheila said: "I am absolutely delighted to have won this award and, although the award is an individual one, I could not have achieved success without the unwavering support of my colleagues at Equiom and my family.

"I would like to thank the team at Forward Ladies for organising the awards ceremony and offering us the opportunity to meet like minded businesswomen from the North West."

Chairman of Equiom Larry Kearns added: "Sheila brings drive and enthusiasm to Equiom ensuring the company has the vision and flexibility to continually flourish.

"Sheila's commitment is evidenced by the continued success of Equiom in a tough economic climate. Sheila is indebted to her clients, fellow directors and staff – whose support is fundamental to the ongoing success of Equiom."
