A PLAY set in the First World War and described as a "poignant reminder of life in the trenches" will be staged at the Gaiety Theatre this week.
The Legion Players will perform Journey's End by R.C Sheriff from Thursday to Saturday - as a tribute to the Royal British Legion which is celebrating its 90th anniversary.
Journey's End tells the story of a group of British officers on the front line over four days in March 1918 and reveals the reality of life in the trenches and the tragic loss of young life in the First World War.
The Legion Players amateur dramatic group has supported the Royal British Legion for many years.
The drama group was started in 1932 by a group of Manxmen – all but one who were veterans of the First World War – who wanted to help veterans less fortunate than themselves by raising funds for the Royal British Legion.
The first play the veterans staged was Journey's End and following its success the Legion Players society was established.
Journey's End will be staged from Thursday, November 17 to Saturday, November 19 at 7.30pm. There will also be a matinee performance at 2.30pm on Saturday. For tickets contact the Villa Gaiety Box Office on 01624 600555.
