A HISTORICAL drama about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln will be screened in Peel on Wednesday.
The Conspirator was released last year and tells the story of the seven men and one woman who were arrested after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in 1865.
They are charged with conspiring to kill the President, the Vice-President, and the Secretary of State.
Mary Surratt, the one woman arrested, is the owner of a boarding house that the others met at and planned the attacks.
The film is set in post Civil War Washington and shows the trial of Mary before a military tribunal.
She is defended by a young lawyer, played by James McAvoy, and as the story unfolds it becomes clear that Mary has something to hide.
The film was directed by Robert Redford and stars James McAvoy, Robin Wright, Tom Wilkinson, Kevin Kline and Danny Huston.
