Police "paperwork and bureaucracy" to be raised in Tynwald

by isleofman.com 11th November 2011

WHAT is being done to reduce the burden of paperwork and bureaucracy on the Isle of Man Constabulary?

That's one of the questions Onchan MHK Zac Hall will put to the Island's Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson MHK in Tynwald on Tuesday.

Mr Hall will also ask the Home Affairs Minister what initiatives are in place to improve rehabilitation for people convicted of drug offences and what the department is doing to promote work opportunities for inmates at Jurby Prison.

There are eight questions being asked for oral answer in Tuesday's sitting.

Garff MHK Steve Rodan will ask the Chairman of the Office of Fair Trading David Quirk about the cost of a report into the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and Ramsey MHK Leonard Singer will ask Her Majesty's Attorney General about the policy on prosecuting people who commit criminal damage who are over the age of 16.

South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft has tabled two questions – she will ask the Health Minister David Anderson MHK about the Island's operating theatres and will ask the Treasury Minister Eddie Teare MHK about assets that are sold when businesses fail or from proceeds of crime.

There are 10 questions for written answer including questions on employment, the general election, and the airport.

Tuesday's sitting of Tynwald will start at 10.30am.
