TT Zero confirmed for 2012

There will be a clean emissions race at next year's TT.

TT Zero will take place on Wednesday, June 6 ahead of the Superstock and Sidecar events.

It will be the fourth year the contest has been staged.

The Isle of Man Government has put up a prize of ?10,000 for the first 'green' bike to lap the mountain course at an average speed above 100mph.

Last year, Michael Rutter narrowly missed the landmark when riding for the American based Segway Racing MotoCzysz.

He was around five seconds shy when he set a new record for the class at 99.604mph.

Economic Development Minister John Shimmin admits there has been plenty of debate about whether TT Zero should continue:
