More than 900 people out of work in the Island

THERE were more than 900 people out of work in the Isle of Man at the end of October.

 

Figures show that 910 people were unemployed including 669 men and 241 women.

 

This is an unemployment rate of 2.1 per cent.

 

During October 226 people signed on and 206 signed off – a net increase of 20.

 

A total of 442 vacancies were notified to the Job Centre and at the end of the month 195 positions were still vacant and held on file.
