Funeral of Dave Wells in Nottingham

The funeral of two-time TT winning sidecar passenger Dave Wells takes place in Nottingham this afternoon (Thursday).

Wells died following an incident at the sidecar festival at Mallory Park in Leicestershire at the end of last month, where he was competing with longtime driving partner Roy Hanks.

During a long career he was a regular at meetings in the Isle of Man.

He made his Southern 100 debut in 1979 and first raced around the mountain course at the 1988 TT meeting.

His biggest achievement came in 1991 when he won both sidecar TT races with Mick Boddice.

Speaking to Manx Radio on Tuesday, three-time sidecar world champion Tim Reeves said criticism in the media about racing the day after Dave Wells died was unjust, and it proved to be a fitting tribute to him:
