Maintenance plan for public sector homes

A Douglas councillor is calling for a more coordinated approach to maintenance work on the Isle of Man's 5,000 public sector houses.

Chair of Health and Housing Carol Malarkey wants a meeting with Infrastructure officials, whose department oversees the 24 local authorities, so an appropriately funded, rolling plan can be considered.

She is raising the issue as the huge task of replacing thousands of kitchens is progressing, and work on installing around 10,000 front and back doors is getting under way.

Mrs Malarkey says making sure everything is replaced in a suitable order can be very difficult:
