'Like for like' hotel scheme receives support

by isleofman.com 8th November 2011

A new hotel with 50 bedrooms is planned for the centre of Douglas.

A scheme currently before the Planning Committee would see the demolition of the Mannin Hotel, near the bottom of Broadway.

A replacement building, including integrated parking, would then be constructed on the site, with the Victorian facade retained.

Douglas Council's Works Committee is backing the plans, and chairman David Ashford is delighted to see a major scheme in which the existing use would be retained (listen to audio file below):

The Works Committee is recommending no objections to the scheme be raised, but the matter will go before the full council at the monthly meeting tomorrow (Wednesday).
