Manual workers pay: agreements reached

by isleofman.com 7th November 2011

The Isle of Man's 2,500 public sector manual workers have accepted pay deals for 2010 to 2011, and the current financial year.

Last week they rejected a proposed pay freeze for last year by an overwhelming majority but, after talks on Friday, settlements have been reached for both years.

There will be no consolidated increase in wages for 2010 to 2011, but each employee will receive a one-off payment of ?225.

Employers, central government and the Island's local authorities, are being asked to try and include the money in the December pay packets of staff who were in post from April last year to December 2011.

All other staff should get their money in January.

The agreement for the current financial year will see all grades receiving and increase of 18 pence to their hourly rates.

All employing authorities are being asked to make the necessary adjustments to wages by February next year.
