Nomads crush Castletown

by isleofman.com 5th November 2011

Southern Nomads bounced back from last week’s defeat with an emphatic 89-12 win at their Southern neighbours Castletown.

Steve McHugh was the star for Nomads with four tries, Glen Buckley got three, Ally Kelly and Ian Hargreaves two apiece with solitary scores from Ben Farmer, Harry Brereton, Alex Wilkinson and Vaughan Paddock.

Dave Caldwell kicked seven conversions.

Douglas B maintained their challenge with a narrow 10-7 win away at Ramsey.

Douglas took an early lead with an Adam Howarth try.

Ramsey hit back with an interception which was finished by Mark Oldfield with Dan Bonwick adding the extras.

A Conor McCaughen try put Douglas back in front and they held onto their three point lead for the rest of the match.

Emerging Nomads were within a whisker of recording their first win of the season when they lost narrowly 13-17 against Vagabonds B.

Tom Collins and Andy Joughin picked up tries for Nomads with Dave Edge adding a penalty.

Jonny Beckley’s boot kept Vagas in the game before a late try sealed the win.
