FIREWORKS are waiting for passengers on tomorrow’s ‘Rocket Express’ steam train trip from Douglas to Port Erin for the town’s annual bonfire party.
The fun starts tomorrow afternoon (Saturday) with baked potatoes and parkin with treacle toffee available at the Tickethall at Douglas steam railway station. The best guy competition will be judged there at 5pm before the steam train departs for the south.
Ticket prices are the same for all, but if passengers wish to board at main stations other than Douglas, the Rocket will stop for those waiting at the platform. Stations between Douglas and Port Erin are Ballasalla, Castletown and Port St Mary.
At Port Erin station, there will be a face painter and colouring in for the children, and the Whistlestop Cafe will be selling burgers, hotdogs and soup to keep passengers warm.
There will be a grand parade from Port Erin station to the Cosy Nook Cafe, with another chance to enter the best guy competition and best illuminated lantern.
The town’s fireworks display starts at 7pm, with the Rocket Express leaving Port Erin at 8.30pm to take passengers back to Douglas.
Tickets for the Rocket Express are £12 for adults, £6 per child. Tickets are available from the Welcome Centre at Douglas Sea Terminal or call 662525. Food sold separately.
