ONE of the contestants who took part in the Isle of Man episode of Come Dine With Me has spoken about her experience on the show.
Viewers will see Mandy Quayle, from Douglas, trying to impress her guests with a Spanish themed menu when the programme airs on Channel 4 this evening.
The travel agent even dresses as a cow to serve her dessert – something which is met with surprise from her fellow diners and something she says she won't ever live down.
Channel 4 has told viewers to expect flirting, bitching, insults and Manx crab from the episode which also features "opinionated" property developer John Tinsley, "posh pensioner" Madeline Simpson and Irish gardener Sean O'Connell.
The four contestants will be seen cooking for each other on four consecutive nights in order to try and win a £1,000 cash prize.
Mandy, who describes herself as "quite a good cook" was tasked with cooking first - something she said was "horrific".
She served her guests chorizo and sweet pepper tartlets to start, spicy mussels with linguine for main and Mandy Moo's banoffee pie for dessert.
Mandy explained: "I absolutely love Come Dine With Me and I used to get mad watching it because I used to think that I could do a better job – not just cooking but the whole having fun and having a laugh.
"I thought 'I can do that. I can have a laugh with people and they’ll enjoy my company' so I applied.
"I just went straight in feet first and thought I'd cook what I like - if they liked it great and if they didn't I'd have enjoyed it because I like it.
"My dessert was Mandy Moo's banoffee pie which I'm not going to live down - I did serve it dressed as a cow."
Mandy said she believes she may have been a bit "full on" for the other contestants – none of whom she had ever met before.
Channel 4 has already highlighted that sparks fly over the course of the week between Mandy and John who don't see eye to eye.
Speaking about John Mandy said: "He was so false it was untrue. Off camera he would be lovely and on-camera he was horrible. That's what annoyed me. He was the only one out of the three of them that I thought was false and I told him! He was too much and was looking for a fight straight away."
She also described John's evening as host as "a farse" but had more praise for the other contestants Sean and Madeline.
Mandy said: "I felt really sorry for Madeline – she was totally under pressure and I felt so uncomfortable for her because she really was stressed on her night. The food was great but a little slow – we didn't see her at the table because she was permanently in the kitchen.
"Sean's food was fantastic and spot on entertainment wise. John's was just a farse it was just all show. You didn't see the real him from the beginning to the end."
Mandy said it was easy to forget that the cameras were rolling.
She explained: "I must admit after half an hour I forgot that the camera was there. On my day it was hard because they were with me from 10am to 12pm but on the other nights you just walked into someone else's house and you did actually forget the camera was there."
To mark the show airing this evening, and the first time Mandy will see the episode, Mandy will be holding a "Mandy Moo" party for her friends and family.
Mandy continued: "They all think I'm absolutely bonkers and my kids think I'm crazy but I've had a lot of support. All my friends and family have said they know me for who I am so it doesn't matter what anyone says
"I am slightly nervous. I am who I am and I say it as it is. I'm fun, outgoing and wouldn’t hurt a fly. I'm not going to take anything to heart – it's all tongue in cheek.
"At the end of the day it was just a bit of fun and something I wanted to do and take part in."
Come Dine With Me will be shown on Channel 4 at 8pm this evening (Friday). To see a clip of tonight's episode click here.
