Art exhibition and auction to raise money for local carers' charity

by isleofman.com 4th November 2011

MORE than 40 local artists have donated artwork for a charity art exhibition and auction in aid of Crossroads Caring for Carers.

Artwork from Sharon Burl, Eileen Schaer, Diane McCudden, Hazel Walsh, Simon Park, Felicity Wood and Roberto Edmanson-Harrison will be on display for two weeks at the Hodgson Loom Gallery at Laxey Woollen Mills.

The exhibition will be officially launched on Monday, November 21, at 7pm and members of the public are encouraged to attend, preview the artwork and meet the artists.

All of the artwork will then be auctioned off by Chyrstals Auctions on Friday, December 2, to raise money for the local charity.

A sealed bid box will be available throughout the exhibition for visitors to bid on pieces before the auction night.

Alex Wilson, event coordinator for Crossroads Caring for Carers, said: "I would like to thank Julia, curator at the Hodgson Loom Gallery for offering us the opportunity to host an exhibition.

"It is an exciting opportunity for Crossroads and for participating artists to display their work as well as raise funds for charity.

"The exhibition will be a real treat for everyone and I hope many visitors pass through the doors of the gallery during the two weeks and have the unique experience of viewing over 40 artists' work in one place.

"There will be something to suit everyone - including blown glass jewellery, painted glasswork, pencil drawings, paintings and photography. Of course thanks must be paid to the artists for their generosity in donating artwork for the exhibition and auction."
