Economic Development responsibilities delegated to political members

THE four political members in the Department of Economic Development have been assigned their individual areas of responsibility.

 

Alex Downie MLC, Geoff Corkish MHK, Alan Crow MLC and Laurence Skelly MHK were assigned as the department's political members last week.

 

Mr Downie takes responsibility for the aircraft and ship registries and the space and information systems divisions.

 

Mr Corkish retains responsibility for tourism and motorsport and will also have responsibility for the Post Office.

 

Mr Crowe will have responsibility of the financial services and companies registry.

 

Mr Skelly will take responsibility for manufacturing, retail, film, e-commerce, clean-tech, bio-tech, energy, construction and mines and minerals. He will also lead the Employment and Skills Group.

 

Economic Development Minister John Shimmin MHK will retain the responsibility for e-Gaming.

 

He said: "I am delighted that Alex Downie, Geoff Corkish Alan Crowe and Laurence Skelly have joined me in the Department of Economic Development and together with our officers and industry colleagues we remain committed and will work hard to achieve economic growth.

 

"The partnership with all sectors of the economy must continue to ensure future success and enhancement of our Island’s quality of life."
